GNK Palpatine
Another GNK power droid joke… which was funnier in my head than it turned out to be. Oh well.

After looking at my previous (unfinished) drawing of Luke and the Emperor, with Vader looming nearby, I figured I needed to redo it.
This started out as a “dangit” for the Emperor, but Nooch had a better line. I like it.
I guess EA has a game called Galaxy of Heroes, and Nooch is running some kind of podcast about it. He asked if I could draw the game art.
I thought I’d try my hand at an iconic scene from The Empire Strikes Back, and this is definitely one of them. I’m pretty happy with how I drew the smoke, and pretty depressed about how I drew Vader.
My first double Dangit! I feel like both Vader and Luke were kind of unhappy about how this situation turned out.
This was actually going to be a Dangit comic, where Luke tries to slash Palpatine but is blocked by Vader. But once I drew the first panel, I realized the Emperor just looks like a happy guy having a chat. I couldn’t make it work.
I have no idea how to draw the Death Star explosion. But whatever it looked like, you can bet Darth Vader was unhappy about it.
After my first character sketch, I tossed another one to Nooch Dirk. This continued to prove that drawing Darth Vader is beyond my skill.
This is it: the very first drawing I did of Star Wars characters. I sent it to Nooch Dirk, figuring he’d get a little chuckle out of it because he’s as big a nerd about this stuff as I am.
